Mathias Kiss' approach to work is marked by his training as a glazier painter and his work restoring historic monuments with the Compagnons du Devoir. His main mediums are painting, decorations, gilding on ornamentation and moldings, imitation of materials, painted skies and trompe l'oeil. He works to deconstruct the decorative arts of the 18th century by revisiting housing standards, what he calls “brutalist ornamentation.”
